Kristen Anne Bell is an American singer and actress born in 1980. She is an Michigan native born and was raised by her parents Lorelei Frygier (a nurse) and Tom Bell (a TV news director). She was born in the town of Huntington Woods, Michigan, to an Polish mother and a father that is German, English Irish, Scottish as well as Irish. Kristen was already an accomplished entertainer at an early stage. Her audition was in 1992, and was then offered a role on Raggedy Ann, and Andy. Bell's mom enrolled her at an agency prior to when turning 13 years old. She later appeared on television commercials and newspaper ads. She also started taking acting lessons in private at this time. Bell played a brief, uncredited part in the film Polish Wedding (1998) in 1998. Bell attended Shrine Catholic High School and was a member of the music club and drama clubs. When her school staged a stage production The Wizard of Oz, Bell was chosen to play Dorothy. After graduation Bell made the move into New York City to attend the prestigious Tisch School of the Arts and learned about musical theatre. Bell left the school in 2001 and assumed the role of Becky the character of Tom Sawyer. Her first film credits in Pootie Tang at the beginning of 2001. Her scene, however, was trimmed and now her only appearance is in the end credits. In 2002, Bell was in the Broadway version of The Crucible with Liam Neeson as well as Angela Bettis.
