Gabriel

Gabriel Salazar Vergara was born on the 31st of January, 1936. Vergara is a scholar of Chilean history. He is popular for his studies on social history and the study of how social movements are interpreted. The most recent examples are the student protests from 2006 and the 2011. Salazar was born into a middle class family. He was educated in history, sociology , and philosophers on the Universidad de Chile, and in the past, was an assistant of his mentors, historian Mario Gongora and classical historian Hector Herrera Cajas. Salazar was a part of the Revolutionary Left Movement from 1971 until 1973. The group also brutalized him by the military at Villa Grimaldi that same year. After being released from a prison camp for military in the year 1976, he was sent into exile in the United Kingdom. He was granted a scholarship to further his education in Hull University. University of Hull. In 1984, he received a PhD from the university of Hull in Economic and Social History. Then he returned to Chile within the next year. Salazar made a breakthrough in 1985. The year 1985 is relatively inaccessible. Salazar's subjects of research included labourers, peons and children Huachos[A] and women. Salazar was among the founders of Nueva Historia Social, a history-based movement. Salazar considers history to be an instrument to encourage actions of society.
